Executive Director

2018 will be Trinda’s 50th year at Camellot and her tenth as Executive director. Trinda has performed in productions at Starlight Theatre, Shawnee Mission Park, The Barn Players and The Coleman Theatre in Miami, OK as well as on the Camellot stage as a camper and alum.  She is a graduate of Loretto in Kansas City and received a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies/Early Childhood/Art from UMKC. Trinda spent 22 years as a preschool teacher and administrator in KC. She currently teaches art and is the Fine Arts Department Chair for Wyandotte Public Schools in Wyandotte, OK. Trinda most recently directed Noel Royal – a Medieval Feast and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Trinda is married to a firefighter/EMT Deputy Chief of the Quapaw Tribe Fire/EMS and is the mother of 2 Camellot alums.

Associate Director

Marsha Oyer brings her 24 years of Camellot experience to the position of Associate Director and Afternoon Camp Director. Marsha received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Education from KU and an administrative certificate from Baker University. She has been in education for more than 30 years. Marsha has performed at Starlight Theatre, The Lyric Opera, Shawnee Mission Park, Bell Road Barn Players, Wyandotte Players and The Renaissance Festival. She has also been the vocal director/accompanist for Shawnee Mission Park.

Drama

Dan has an MA in theatre from KU and has directed shows at the Barn Players, Pembroke Hill Middle and Upper School, and Notre Dame de Sion – most recently Fiddler Jr., Cinderella, and Sister Act. Prior to his position as drama teacher at Camellot for the last 11 summers, he taught theatre at Sumner Academy for seven years. Dan currently teaches 7th grade at The Pembroke Hill Middle School and enjoys returning each summer because it allows him to utilize his theater degree and relive his camp counselor days of long ago!

Art

Mary Beth Goff graduated from Saint Mary University and Southern Illinois University and has spent the last 15 years teaching elementary and middle school in Cairo, Ill. She is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration at SIU. Mary Beth has 2 children; 19 year-old Andrew and 15 year-old Maya.

 

Maggie Killian

Dance

Maggie is excited to be joining Camelot Academy this summer. She has spent many years directing, choreographing and designing for schools and youth theater programs. She received her BA in Technical Theater from MU in 2005 and studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio in NYC. After many roles with TRYPS and PACE Youth Theater in Columbia, MO, she and her husband had the opportunity to tour as Actor/Educators with CLIMB Children’s Theater. They settled with their son in KC about 3 years ago. Now she is happily living the dream in the KC theater scene. She has worked as Scenic Artist and Props Master for A to Z Theatrical, and recently directed Xanadu for Lutheran High School and choreographed Cinderella and Fiddler Jr. for Notre Dame de Sion schools.

 

Dominic Serrano

Senior Music / Accompanist

Dominic is returning to Camellot for his first year as director of Senior Music having served the last four in the Junior Music Division and as guitar teacher. He received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Berklee College of Music and his master’s degree in Piano Performance from California State University, East Bay. Dominic currently teaches music at Resurrection and John Paul II Catholic Schools. He brings 8 years experience of directing youth musical theater with shows that include Cinderella, Alice In Wonderland, Grease Jr., High School Musical Jr., and Aladdin Jr.

 

Caitlin Teters

Junior Music

Caitlin Teters is delighted to be joining Camellot Academy this summer. She completed both her Voice Performance and Acting degrees at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. While in Iowa, Caitlin was a Teaching Artist for the non-profit organizations City Voices and Art Force Iowa and also worked as a counselor and director for Whippoorwill Children’s Theatre. She is currently completing her master’s degree in Music Education at the University of Kansas where she has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Her operatic and theatrical resumé includes numerous onstage and offstage roles including Anything Goes (Reno) and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Mother), as well as regional dialect coaching. Starting this fall, Caitlin will be teaching Elementary Music at Piper Elementary School in Kansas City, KS.

 

Amanda Burkhart

Stage Craft

Raised by a Texas born artist in the theater community of Kansas City, Amanda was surrounded by painters, sculptures, playwrights, dancers and musicians from a very young age. Her passion is to share the creative spirit that has been gifted to her by these beautiful people. As a teacher she has had the privilege to work with artists of all ages as both a charge painter for multiple Kansas City area theaters as well as an instructor of scenic art at Johnson County Community College. Last summer was her first experience with Camellot working as the assistant instructor of the Stage Craft class. She so excited to be back working with these incredibly talented campers.

Office Manager

This summer marks Susan’s 10th year working at Camellot. With a Bachelor’s degree from KU in secondary education and a Masters degree from Mid-America Nazarene in Educational Technology, Susan has spent over 40 years in the educational field. She currently works for the Kansas City, Kansas Schools in the Truancy Department. Susan’s love for theatre and singing was enhanced when she participated with the Junior League’s Children’s Theatre productions. From the farmer in Wizard of Oz to a dwarf in Snow White Susan has helped children to enjoy live theatre for many years.
